[MV] M38 question carb question

drove my m38 last night to dust of the cobwebs and when I was finished I =
looked under the hood and saw a small amount of fuel seeping from the =
carb. It seeps out very slowly where the fuel line goes into the carb, =
but I do not see any threads or anything that would tighten. =20

This is a vehicle that I wish to sell as a restoration project, so I do =
not want to buy a bunch of new parts, I was wondering if some silicone =
gasket maker around the fuel line where it meets the carb will make it =
safe for intested parties to test drive without an engine fire, or is =
there another simple fix? (my friend who was there at the time said =
"plumbers putty"???!!!!????)
I drove it for about 25 minutes last night and it ran great without =
bursting into flames but if I smell gas fumes when I open the hood, I get =
nervous. =20

Once the fuel pressure goes down, it stops seeping and it is probably two =
drops per minute when it leaks. Evaporates almost as fast as it seeps.

Thanks in advance

John
