Direct from the sun visor in my M1009
Shifting between 2H and 4H can be made at ANY speed with hubs in "Lock"
position.Do not shift transfer while vehicle is in motion and hubs are in
"Free" position.
Shifting between high range and low range.Vehicle must be stopped and
transmission selector lever in "N" position.

Looking at the CUCV operators manual says basically the same thing,but takes
two pages to do so,and I'm not about to type all that.
