I am a firm believer in the value of having the proper technical
manual for whatever you do concerning military vehicles. Always read the
TM first to avoid paying $$$$$$$$ later. When towing a 4x4 with automatic
transmission such as M-880 series or CUCV series vehicles, the manuals
state that the transfer should be in "N" and the transmission should be in
"P". Do not exceed 40 miles per hour. You can then tow the vehicle any
distance with all four wheels on the ground. (TM-9-2320-266-10)
