I think it has been established that there were reasons for having/not
having a star. We don't need to know why, because it has been done since
WWII. The fact that it HAS been done should be good enough, as I'm
recreating markings as they existed back in '52, not trying to redefine
history.
And, yes...
MARINES are special...
...but we knew that...
