Calling all Oklahoma, N Texas and Western Arkansas WWII Vehicles (Military
and Civilian) and WWII reenactors,

I originally put this out several weeks (if not months) ago, but now it is
official. The Medicine Park, Oklahoma USO Stage Door Canteen Dance is a GO
for Saturday, 13 November. Location is the renovated 1930's Medicine Park
Dance Hall. A 15 piece Swing/Big Band with two vocalists are planned.

Medicine Park, located about 60 miles southwest of Oklahoma City just of
I-44, was a well known resort area in the 30s and 40s. It has recently been
under restoration and renovation. A part of the ceremony will be the
lighting of the Medicine Park bridge which has also been refurbished. In
conjuction, we will have a parade of restored military vehicles.

The organizers are looking to get many vehicles and folks in period uniforms
as possible. Also expect a number of local participants in period clothing
(and likely some farbs in uniform).

Price is $5.00 per person, unless you are bringing a WWII vintage vehicle
then it is free. I am attempting to work a deal for reenactors in uniform
to get in free also. I will need to know in advance if you plan on coming
so I can arrange tickets or a WILL CALL set-up.

In addition to military vehicles, we are interested in period civilian
vehicles (1942 and earlier). If you know of someone with such a vehicle,
please have them get in contact with me, if interested.

While this is the first event of this type at this venue, the organizers are
already planning making this an annual event. Please come out and help us
support this event if you can.

Tentative schedule of events:

1630--Assembly and line-up
1730--Parade (It will be pretty short route)
1800--Bridge Lighting Ceremony
1900--USO Victory Dance

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me via e-mail or
phone.
