Hello List;

Some years back, a friend had an M38A1D, the Davy Crockett atomic
motar carrying jeep in his repair shop. The Easiest way of ID'ing this rare
jeep was the left rear rim had been lowered to the level of the inside top
of the wheel housing from about the middle of the back to the front start of
the wheel housing. The profile was impossible to miss. From the
workmanship, it looked like the modifications had been made by a high
eschelon rebuild shop, not the factory, using vehicles sent in for high
level repairs. The jeep did have the data M38A1D plate, which I ended up
with. (the MV was going to a Maine hunting camp, not to a collector).

Re the suspension thread; I seem to remember that about 10 years ago,
Sarafan's got in a batch of jeeps from the Greek army. As I recall, these
vehicles were composite MB- M38's that had been adapted to carry a recoiless
rifle. Anyone remember more specifics of this batch ??
