This may be true that is why I repeat get the regulation book and carry it
with you. There will always be someone who thinks they know different.

I'm not so sure about this. I was told the only permit I would need was if
it was an "over wide".

This one is a key factor. It definately changes many of the rules. The
only thing it doesn't change is weigh station stops. If you don't stop when
they are open they will probably come after you. Unless they think you are
military then they don't care. Drive camo wear camo and they may ignore
you. In any event the decision is how up front you want to play the game.
Do your homework ahead and save yourself time and money in the end.
