Bob,

Putting it on a trailer is your best bet. Second best is a tow dolly. I suspect that you want to flat tow. If you have front locking hubs, make sure they are disengaged. Put the transfer case in nuetral. The transmission may not matter, but I put it in nuetral also. With your 5.38 gears your rear shaft is really going to be spinning at highway speed. Make sure all of your diff. bearings and u-joints are in good condition. I believe flat towing is also hard on this style steering box. I flat tow my MB alot, but only for short distances and not over 45 mph. My biggest problem has been, after a sharp turn occasionally my MB's steering will go to the lock and stay there. This is a great way to remove all of the rubber bippies off of a brand new set of tires. It is hell on fuel and tire mileage. If I was going to flat tow a long distance, I would remove my rear axles. Only very early CJ2A's had the MB's full floating rear axles. Please check the archives as this has been a recurrin!
g question. You should also paint your jeep O.D. and put a star on it to meet the list criteria.
