The CCKW nomenclature only referred to the GMC dueces of WW2 As someone
already noted, the letters and their positions meant something. The numerals
following the dash also meant something, though no one had decoded it. The
short trucks were CCKW-352 and the longer ones were CCKW-353. The 3 digits
at the end indicated the wheelbase and the size of the vehicle. For example,
there was an AFKX-802 which was a very large 4 ton tractor (2 axles).

Subject: [MV] Meaning of letters "CCKW"

Hi List:
According to my reference book(s) W.W.II deuces were referred to as a
CCKW. I have puzzled this to infinity in my own mind but can't attach a
realistic nomenclature to this acronym. Can anyone enlighten me?
Thanks in advance, Charlie
