I have a book on the DUKW's...it has the following
under name nomenclature....
CCKW= C, designed in 1941, C, standard cab, K, front
wheel drive, W, rear wheel drive
DUKW= D, built in 1942, U, amphibious 2 1/2 ton truck,
K, front wheel drive, W, rear wheel drive
I found it interesting that, according to this source,
the CCKW was DESIGNED in 1941 and the DUKW was BUILT
in 1942. Seems the code should be for one or the other
on all models....don't know though...
