Perhaps our Aussie friends nearer the action could comment.

Folks,

Although I do not have a definitive date yet, it is strongly rumoured in
motoring circles that MV people should start looking for either additives of
engine conversions within the next 12 months. Let's say by 2001.

It has been muted here in New South Wales (Australia) that our only form of
leaded fuel (Super grade) will be gone very shortly. All petrol based fuel
production will be going to ULP-unleaded. I have just re-built my 44 GPW
engine to cope with it.

By shere coincidence I now recall in past days that SHELL, AMPOL and BP (our
local producers) have decided to merge production facilities in the coming
months. Hmm, I wonder why ?

Anyway, posted comments about the use of AVGAS are also known here in
Australia to help older motors in leaned lead times, so the usage appears to
be a global workaround.

Regards,

John
