i have to wonder if you-all are talking about the same brakes... a 2 1/2
ton truck uses air over hydraulic brakes and so does any 1 1/2 ton
trailer i have seen. the emergency fitting is on the right and the
service fitting is on the left. you have to have air in the trailer tank
AND have air pressure on the emergency line to have the brakes released.
the service line applies the brakes when air is applied. ( the same air
that applies the servo cyl for the trucks brakes ) this way if the
trailer gets pulled completely off of the truck the brakes will lock up.
( air in the tank and no air to the emergency line. ) clear as mud ???
and my duece stops almost as well as a car and steers just as easy also,
so there !
