Rust is the main problem to look for, but not in the body. The body is all
Birma-bright, a magnesium-aluminum alloy, and as such is subject to only
galvanic corrosion and oxidation. The frame is an edge-welded box section
made out of 14ga mild steel and is subject to the ravages of rust, both
externally and internally, especially in the rear crossmember and the
outriggers. Get under there with a hammer and whack everything hard to see
if there are any soft areas. Fortunately, MoD chassis' are coated with some
tough black crud that does a great job of protecting them from rusting. The
other area to check closely is the bulkhead (firewall) and footwells.
Replacement parts are cheap, especially if you are handy with a welder.

The going price is location dependant. Go buy a LR magazine and call the
advertisers that list ex-MoD rigs to get a feel for a fair price.

Good luck,
Lonn
