You are correct. It say 55, not 60. My point was/is that if you listen to
that advise, or buy a CCKW or Chevrolet from ww2 with the stock engine, you
will be disatisfied, why, because the motor will fail pure and simple. These
motors like others from that era will not take over-reving for very long.
The TM-9 801 for the CCKW states that the maintenance personnel will
replace the engine after the truck has gone 10,000 miles. That was 10,000
miles at 45 mph or less, not 60, not 55, not 50. The only thing different
today is the oil. All the metalurgy is still 60 year old.

You also have to stop it...

I would hate to have someone buy one of these fine old trucks and blow the
motor because they had read an article from someone who told them something
that was very bad to do to that truck.

MY rule of thumb for any MV is that take whatever it says on the data plate
for the maximum speed and subtract 5 mph from that and do not exceed that
lower speed. You will me much happier with the truck...
