Subject: [MV] Hitler Car?

Can anyone provide any additional info about this story?

It did arrive in a very strange format, however, price-hiking stories of
"Hitler's car" keep surfacing a bit like Titanic gold.

The Mercedes G4/W31 (6x4) was favoured by Hitler and also used by the other
Reich Marschals together with alternative large MB Staff cars. Several, of all
types were kept at various locations and used as needed, it is not possible to
define therefore "Hitler's Car" as it could be one of many and he didn't
actually need to own anything at all, the same can largely be said of the
vehicles used by the other RMs too. Of course by this token you could pick any
Kubelwagen and also say its "Hitler's Kubel". . . . . . .

Fair to say though the production of the G4 was tiny, although 57 were produced
between 1933 and 1934 with another production run in 1939 with a larger engine.

Few have survived making the sale price horrendous, it is quite possible though
that Hitler did actually _sit_ in any example surviving today.

Whilst the G4 has been popularised by the oft seen film clips, the Wehrmacht did
have other 6 wheel cars that are very rarely seen, e.g., Krupp L2H143, Skoda
3-Litre, Steyr 640, Tatra T93 and an enclosed version of the G4/W31 as a
communications vehicle mostly used by the press and operated by Reichspost.
