I admit that this sounds incorrect but your comparison to a 318 cuin engine
is not exactly correct. A 53 series Detroit would be a two stroke engine
thus it's roughly the equivelant of a 636 cuin four stroke engine, not
exactly, but close. It still doesn't add up however.
