That depends on which model of wrecker it is. Do you have the "M"
number? According to TM 43-0001-31, the towed load limit of an M816
wrecker (with the 225 HP engine and 5-speed manual transmission) is
20,000 pounds. The payload is 7,000 pounds, but I don't know if that's
the same as the suspended weight limit while rolling. Other 5-ton
wreckers have different limits. If you know the "M" number, I could
look it up for you.

By the way, reprints of TM 43-0001-31 are available from Portrayal, or
can be downloaded from ETMs Online. It's a handy and interesting book
to have, with brief statistics and line drawings of all of the FSC
2320 trucks and FSC 2330 trailers as of mid-1985, plus other related
vehicles. There's a similar TM with data on earth-movers, cranes, etc.
It's like the Sears Catalog o' Green Trucks. If only there was a 1-800
number for ordering... :-)
