Subject: [MV] Removing Deformed Glow Plugs

Many times there is no "perfect" way to remove a deformed glow plug. You
have to use your best judgement and hope lady luck is on your side. What I
have done in the past that worked for me was to clamp a pair of vise grips
on the affected plug (after it is unscrewed of course!) and use a LARGE
screwdriver or a crowbar and force the plug OUT. The only trick to this is
do it with a firm movement but not to quick that it pops the top off of it.
I think nine times out of ten this should work. Too slow or too fast will
make it pop off into the cylinder; just a firm motion of prising it out
WITHOUT stopping should do it. Badly deformed ones are rare as if it
deforms to any degree, it usually stops working (opens up) and will go no
further. No guarantees but this works for me. Julian Burke
