I am not sure about mule paint, but our neighboring Infantry battalion once
painted our donkey (mascot from our pre-WWII pack artillery heritage)
infantry blue using water color paint. I don't think it was from Federal
Stocks though and definitely wasn't CARC. Perhaps it was CARCUS paint. The
Junior LT in the battalion was tasked with cleaning up the donkey which
survived the painting. Unfortunately, the donkey didn't survive the
cleaning with Turpentine! They hauled the dead donkey away in an M35A2 (MV
thread here). Not sure how they hauled the brain-dead Lieutenant away.
