There have been some very useful suggestions posted to the list concerning
groups that HMV collector groups (read MVPA) should ally with. The
members who attend local HMV club meets should discuss this type of
strategy and have their Officers write to MVPA HQ...or call MVPA HQ to
reinforce the wisdom of forming a federation of collector car club, EAA,
etc. This must be done at an organizational level by persons like Mr Lee
Holland and other Board Members.
I note suggested allies might include the NRA....and that some contrary
opinions have also emerged. I must agree with the contrary opinions.
While the NRA is large and has been successful in the past, we probably
would be better off presenting ourselves as anothe "old car club". Granted
that some of us have gotten into this HMV hobby from the gun side of MV's,
but given the current regulatory climate, we would be better to mute that
aspect.
Finally, I suggest that local clubs and the MVPA in general solidify their
associations with Veterans Groups...VFW....American Legion...The vets still
have some influence.....even with their declining numbers.
