It seems we have definitely learned something from this go around!

Rikk,
I don't know how or why, yet, but all twelve new 97's came back with
corrected
info. The woman in charge at the DRMO was out of her office when I called
to talk to her after I got them. Like, I'll be kissing the ground she walks
on if she
was responsible for getting them fixed. I had previously left a message on
her
answering machine saying that I was going to call Michigan, and I did. When
I
first called her, she said that she would have to contact the sales officer
in MI
and records would have to be searched. Maybe this is what she did. I was
very polite with her and MI people, no law suit threats or anything. Just
pleads
of needing the forms corrected and that this is a wide spread problem we
buyers
are having. I sent info to the local where I bought the trucks, stating the
years
and makes. The Form 97's do not exactly match my determinations. Where
a data plate said General Products, they have Jeep Corp., but being the same
thing (Jeep Corp is also on the data plates), I'm okay. One has a Kaiser as
a
1972 that I think should be AM General, but since there's no name on the
data
plate, this will also work.
I will never let this happen again. When I go inspect, I'm going to check
VIN's
against catalog listings. If they have year unknown, then I'll show the man
in
charge of the yard the year in the hood number. If they won't accept that,
then
I won't bid the truck.
Joe
