Yeah. Any sort of voltage abnormality like a surge or a momentary break in
the circuit
(i.e., lifting off a battery terminal while the vehicle is running) tends
to nuke those with
no 'second chance'. Pretty expensive from Dodge or the jobbers, but
basically every
Chrysler pickup and van wreck in the junkyard has them, and you could probably
purchase three for the price of a new one.

I always carried a spare one of those and the solid-state voltage regulator
in my
ready-spares box.
