Tony,

The US Army has the same problem. I've seen two solutions in my units.
There is a mount used that provides a slight stand off not provided in the
stanard antenna mount. Unfortunately, I don't have a picture to provide you
or know where they might be available.

The other solution is sewing a piece of canvas/leather, etc over the spot
the antenna rubs on the top bows over the cargo area. That is a cheap and
authentic means of treating the symptoms and what I've seen most often in
the Army. Of course, it isn't always real pretty.
