Somebody also sent me a file with a virus attached in the form of a
"BILL_GATES_something.JPG.pif" and that contained the virus known as
'TROJ_MTX.A". I had to clean my system the hard way, after I was
alerted by one of my correspondants on EBay that I had forwarded that
virus-infected file to him, unbeknownst to me, since it came to this
guy by itself in
a different e-mail, right after a legit e-mail from me...
SO, beware! run your virus checkers on ALL E-MAIL coming from the
Internet. I think I was infected on Nov 6 (early AM PST)
I believe this list is probably immune to that, since attachments are
filtered out automatically. (Am I right, Arthur?) but it could have
affected some of the listers I had off-list exchanges with... To these
people I apologize if they were "hit", for the inconvenience, with a
second e-mail from me with just an attachment file containing the
virus. That would have come in a separate e-mail, and right after a
legitimate message from me.
