Two good and important points.

It is not uncommon to find mil things doing it differently from the
commonplace domestic norm. Most all UK mil trucks of the 50's - 70's now
regularly found in preservation use SAE30 in gearboxes and the semi-autos
like FV701, 603 (and variants), 601, need hydraulic oil in the torque
converter.

The official word in the manual is essential stuff.
