One would think the RC 5/1/45 is the date received, all on that sheet were
either 5/1/45 or 5/11/45.

Does this historian have a listing of all the vehicles the Navy had of that
period?

Subject: [MV] 1/2-Ton History Mystery!

I've received a copy of the ledger sheet on my 1/2-Ton
Dodge Weapon Carrier (WC-22) from the Port Hueneme, CA
NAVFAC historian now. I'm glad that the US Navy hood
number was visible as that is the only data they have
to use for their research (covering US Navy vehhicles
from about 1923 up until about 1950). Would anyone
care to help me decipher it?

The whole page:

The entry for my vehicle magnified:
http://www.koolpages.com/ww2ambulance/wc22ledger3a.jpg

My hood number is 262138.

I read the following:

R.C. 5/1/45
V.R. 7/31/46
M.M. 5/9/46

Are these people's initials, or do they mean something
else in swabbie parlance? What about "4/9"? 4/9/45??

What about "NAB-11NDfar"? Is that some base in Fargo,
North Dakota?

>From there it seems to go to Naval Auxiliary Air
Station Holtville (California), to Marine Corps Air
Station Mojave(California), then to surplus. It's a
good thing I keep the 1/2-Ton at an airport....it can
feel right at home!

And finally, "comit??? ser 40180 dtd 11-30-45." It's
hard to tell if that refers to my vehicle or the next.

Chris Davis has also ordered the ledger sheet for his
newly acquired US Navy WC-53 Carryall, so I suspect he
may have many of the same questions soon!

Thanks in advance!

BK
