It sounds like you are correct, from your description. Try looking at
the bottom part of each section. If the ant. has not been painted over,
the bottom section should say "AS-1730" and the bottom of the top section
should say "AT-1095". Together they make "AS-1729/VRC".
The correct base is : " Matching Unit-Base, Antenna MX-6707/VRC".
