The PCC-1 supplies voltages to two AN/PRC-77's through the plug mounted on
the top of the radio chassis (the one you normally hook up to the cable
going to the AM-2060(*) for those who know what that is), and, along with
the TH-81 controller and a handy dry-cell or 110VAC power supply, forms a
portable 2-wire or 4-wire telephone/telegraph communications setup which can
operate either simplex or duplex depending on what's wanted. There were an
*awful* lot of PCC-1's surplused through outfits like Fair Radio Sales about
ten-fifteen years back (most of which went to folks wanting a 110VAC power
supply for their 25's or 77's), but I think the failure rate was rather
high, as I recall them being sold in threes ('make one work'), or sold
'as-is'. I managed to get two of them a hundred years ago, and one even
still works. Some of them, though perfectly operational, whine like stuck
pigs under load, which is why mine is now resting comfortably under a warm
blanket of dust in the sack-end of the basement.

BTW, strangely, though a USMC system, the TH-81/GCC is manufactured by
Codalec of Montreal, P.Q., Canada.

Andy (that lot's from memory 'cuz I'm too lazy to dig up Jane's!)
