Howdy John,

Is the tank structurally sound? Is it riveted or welded construction? If
it is structurally sound, or can be made so, I feel that the
professional application of a food grade elastomeric coating should be
able to get the unit back into potable water service. Talk with the
people who build/repair milk trailers. There are are relatively thick,
flexible food grade coatings out there that should do the job.

There is also sprayed fiberglass then topcoated with the food grade coating.

The guiding concept must be, whatever you do, is to maintain an unbroken
food grade surface between the steel and the potable water.

Good Luck!
