You know, that's a thought. Perhaps instead of flying over Afghanistan
and dropping bombs (which they have become SO used to from the Soviets),
we should send over a couple of those C-130s converted to water bombers
(Obligatory MV content) that they use for fighting fires, and load them
up with a mixture of diluted pig's blood from American slaughterhouses.
Then, for each day that they refuse to expel Bin Laden and his buddies,
we fly over their cities (with A-10s for escorts) and we spray this mist
over the entire town. Soak every Talibaner from his toes to his turban
with pig's blood from the air, cover their homes, their streets,
everything with it, over and over, till they give in. Frankly, it might
be more effective in instilling terror in the terrorists. And if we
HAVE to go in on the ground, each time we capture a town that fights for
Bin Laden and the Taliban, we turn the town mosque into a literal
pigpen- hogs, mud, and all. We do that a few times, and the others will
soon enough decide that we are serious about hitting these guys where it
hurts. Pershing was right about one thing; these guys don't fear
death. So killing them in war will not dissuade them. But if they see
their actions result in the desecration of their religion's icons, they
MIGHT think twice, knowing that their fellow muslims may see them as
being responsible for bringing that kind of suffering on them. And
frankly, it would also appease those who don't want us to kill innocent
bystanders. Last time I heard, pig's blood wasn't fatal (although pork
should be cooked well before eating, I suppose). Just a thought.
