I have a 1953 Diamond T, 5-ton wrecker, multifuel. The procedure
for this truck is to place the transfer case in neutral, shift into
5th gear and pull the lever on the left side of the driver's seat forward.
This engages the system to operate the crane. Data plates at the
crane seat are self explanatory. Warning: Do not lift heavy loads
with the crane at a right angle to the truck. This can damage the big
ring gear that rotates the crane. When lifting a heavy object from the
rear, have the struts in place in order to relieve stress on the rotating
mechanism.
