Fast in a straight line isn't the deal. Going through the curves is.

First Disc brake, first electric start, '69 Honda. Back with Triumph
was having trouble figuring out casting methods and gaskets, HD was
dithering with vibration issues and Norton was well, failing slowly.

Honda is nice in that they were not one of the great Zaibatsu.
Sochiro was a maverick in his corporate direction and methods. His
post war development all started with converting bicycles to
motorized form for house wives in the post war reconstruction period
of the 50s. He used surplus military motors as I recall as the basis
for the moped conversions. Eventually he branched into making his own
engines and bikes then later automobiles (against the wishes of MITI).
