    Thanks to all who replied. Rich Greene's is where I witnessed the
practice of pushing the shutoff back in. They did chock the wheels, but it
still made me nervous, especially when they are parked on a hill. Craig told
me that Rich had one start backwards on him once and he ran it into some
other trucks (I believe) before he got stopped. That would have cured me
right there.

    Following the advice of David, Kerry, Randy, James and Jack (and any
others whose posts I missed), I will keep adhering to my current policy.
Parking brake on, fuel shutoff pulled out, not in gear, and, if on a hill,
wheels chocked.
