To all who offered suggestions:

Thanks for your help, I have collated the replies and forwarded them to
Poland.

In summary, they ranged from
 
- installing an electric fuel pump,
- wrapping and rerouting the fuel lines,
- installing a heat shield both between the manifolds and under the
carby,
- using wooden clothes pegs on the fuel line to disipate heat
- heat shield around the fuel pump.

Hopefully one or all of those remedies will work.
