Actually, it's not "a straight up croc o crap". The rules of the List do
prohibit "dealers" from using the List to advertise. How you define
"dealer", I suppose, is up to you. The List is, essentially, self-regulating
in that it relies on the integrity of members to keep things under control.
Arthur, the Listmaster, has not been particularly evident of late. I have to
assume that he has been busy with personal matters. In the past, (some older
List members might remember this) Arthur would periodically post a copy of
the List rules, when things started to get out of hand.

That said, I don't have a problem with members posting items for sale. I
agree with Rikk that it is nice to get advance notice that an item is being
offered for sale. Additionally, posting an item to the List is a good way to
get a "price check", as was seen recently with the ignition kits that were
offered.

I think that most List members enjoy the opportunity to pick up bargains
from other List members, as long as sale items are listed in a reasonable
manner. Charlie's postings did not offend me. I get the impression that he
is not a major player in the surplus business, compared to someone like
Memphis Equipment, for example. Charlie might take a hint from the way that
Joe Young does business. He posts occasional notices of items for sale, but
with a reference to his web site, for details. That seems like a better way
of doing business than posting detailed descriptions to the List, itself.

Opinions anyone?

John

That's a straight up croc o crap.
Pretty much everyone that has something to sell posts a heads up on this
list and we are the better off for it. Many list members post links to their
ebay auctions. And very many of us would consider it an insult, were we not
given "first shot" on new or "good deal" merchandise.

Charlie
I know you're a good guy and probably have some good deals but the list is
not suppose to be used for commerical advertisement. I'm a dealer by
definiton, though a small one man operation doing less business than many
'collectors' and I try to only post things for sale if they're ask for. Jeff
