Hi!
It is done that way because the regular system doesn't work right half the
time even with good parts. Most problems really show up when cold weather
starting. I converted mine to manual as has most in my club. Saves a lot
of grinding of starter and flywheel to get started. Your system could have
been converted for various problems such as filter assembly leaking air or
heating element in filter assembly bad, glow plugs not cycling long enough
on to get hot enough for easy starting, etc. I hold button for 15 seconds
and it starts right up. Save yourself problems and leave it manual. I
replaced automatic part with all new parts and controller first.
