We must all remember that this problem between reenactors and MV clubs goes
both ways. It's not just reenactors trying to rain on the MV parade.

I was at a club meeting for our local MV club. We were discussing an
upcoming display where there had been problems last year. There were some
items stolen from a jeep, an unattended child spectator got into a piece of
armor - started it - and almost drove off with it, etc. I noted that I
would be attending without my jeep but with a group of reenactors. I
offered to watch peoples vehicles if they needed a bathroom break or to go
get lunch, etc. I would also introduce the club members to reenactors in
my group who were MV owners who wouldn't mind watching their vehicles for
them. I was told by the club president: "But the reenactors are who we are
worried about". (our group is approximately 70% active/retired military,
and we've got at least 5 ww2 jeep owners in the squad)

There I was, trying to get the two groups, with similar ideals & goals
together...and the club president just shot me down...to the laughter of
the MV club members. After that, I just drifted away... ...and I used to
wonder why there were not more reenactors in the MV club....because they're
not wanted.

My favorite MV experience was the time I came out of the Office Depot to
see a mother taking a photo of her son in his boy scout uniform, in front
of my M1009 CUCV.

oh well, back to the bunker
