Top speed in 3rd gear (high) and 5th gear (low) is about 28 mph, so we are
really just talking about improving the acceleration up to a speed of 25 mph
or so with a heavyly loaded vehicle.
I found that after the turbo conversion, the low end torque of the deuce
increased drastically and shifting in the hills (a lot of them here) was
much easier. Personally, I don't see the need to shift between hi and lo
except off-road and then using the 1st (hi/lo) only.

As far as using low range in all wheel drive, it really doesn't matter, it's
the gear ratio that matters. If it is obtained in low or high range (and is
nearly the same), I can't see any difference as to the loading of the axles.

Like so many said b4, my 2 cents worth.
Cheers,
Bjorn
