Dear Listers,

Tom is correct, but, as with so many things related to painting/marking, it
isn't the whole story.

This is how the markings were to be applied on all post-July 1966 traiers.

REGISTRATION NUMBER. Both sides of trailer, forward of wheel-arch. Letter
size 2".

6" STAR. Both sides of trailer, rearward of wheel-arch. Point upwards.

Up to July 1966, the markings on the sides of towed equipment was the REVERSE
of the above......the "US ARMY" and "REGISTRATION NUMBER" were applied to the
area REARWARD of the fender and the 6" STAR was FORWARD of the fender.
Although this change came in with TB746-93-1 (Change 2...July 1966), existing
markings were not changed unless/until the item needed repainting. However,
all equipment delivered from July 1966 would have followed the revised
instruction.

So if you are restoring your trailer to a post-July 1966 configuration, then
the stars go rearwards of the fenders.

Hope this helps.....
Ken
