Re: [MV] Looking for a M35A2--Are auction vehicles generally drivable?

If you need one, like in the next month or two; you really only have two
choices, buy one from a private individual and test drive it etc, or buy
one from a dealer. Forget thinking that you are going to pickup a runner
from either GL or the GSA. I bought a 5 ton from the GSA, I talked to the
mechanic himself and he said everything was great, ya ya ya. I decided to
flatbed it back home. Good thing, brakes out, engine ran light shxt, diffs
low on fluid, on and on and on.....

Driving it home would have been a disaster. Sure you can call a tow truck,
but it might take a day to get one that can handle a duece, then what do
you pay, where do they tow it too? There's a lot of empty America out
there and I sure wouldn't want to be broken down in either the middle of
the city, or in the middle of the country. Been there, done that. It's
not fun and you are totally at the mercy of whoever has the gear to handle
your truck. Not a place I want to be.

If you buy a GL or GSA truck, plan on towing or flatbedding that duece. I
don't mind taking risks but I'm not an idiot either.
