Hi Longhunter and list,
                                  The end result of this experiment would be
a long walk .
If engaging reverse whilst moving forwards is achieved the most likely out
come is catastrophic failure of the transmission system with associated
danger and expense .
As to diesels running backwards , see my earlier posting , a true diesel is
unlikely to run backwards BUT the novel system used in multi fuel ,
turbo`ed engines seems to permit this to occur , BUT it seems to be a FAIL
safe system , the oilpump becomes a vacuum pump and the bearings seize
thereby stopping the engine.
