(Just kidding, lil twist on the jeep in a box,
adjusted for inflation)

About this thread on HMMWV value.... I've never bought
an MV just to make a buck, although in the back of my
so-called mind, I'm value oriented. (Uh, my kids call
that being cheap) Still, I like to think there is more
owning an MV than just the than money angle.

All mil-vehs have a historic nature about them and
that will always make them interesting enough to
appeal to a large percentage of people. However, it's
hard to put a price on the other aspects of MV
ownership such as the friendships made, family
oriented trips and projects and lets not forget sense
of patriotic preservation you get with these things.

It's been a great experience for this family. Prior
to that we were car collectors, mostly muscle cars of
the 50's and 60s. From my perspective this has been a
lot more fun, although my boys probably still prefer
the Vettes!

Like I suggested in my first post, the HMMWV prices
will probably ebb from time to time, based on its
popularity. That's just part of the evolution of any
vehicle. When they were first released you had to
expect that would be at top dollar and as more are
released or trends fade, the prices should fall a bit.

By the way, I can't imagine why more HMMWVs will NOT
be released unless some twit in Congress gets a law
passed to crush them in the future.

Now that would definately ad some value to your ex-mil
HMMWV! Then again, that kind of legislation might
include coming after yours. Call me paranoid, but if
they start crushing MV's rather than sell them, it's
not that far fetched!

Bottom line, price has to be secondary to reasons you
own an MV. So, no matter where the price may wind up,
the fun along the way will make it a good investment!
