Ken...I thought the same thing as you but I thought I'd put a couple of
4x4s about 8' long bolted underneath to spread out the area of contact
with the bed. When I built the ton dump truck we tested it with 5 1/2
tons of creek gravel. The springs creaked and moaned coming up out of
the creek bed but it hauled it okay...only had to haul it about a mile
to a neighbors driveway. When I hauled crushed stone for my driveway
from the quarry several miles away...I hauled about 3 tons at a time.
I'd say if the tires are decent on the duece and he doesn't have to go
over rough frame twisting jolting terrain and can take it easy...it
should be okay...but we can't endorse it with our approval, huh? Fred
