how to calibrate fuel quantity in a humvee fuel injection pump

Hi list, I found that my humvee makes smoke and I ask
a friend that worked all his live in diesel engines,
to smeal that smoke, and he told me that the fuel
injection pump is sending more diesel than the engine
require

I found some information about how the pump works,

but it is not clear how the quantity of fuel can be
calibrated

Somebody know how to do this?
