Fellow Travellers:

I will again state that this discussion does not concern me personally, as I
do not knowingly deal with thieves.

GL's assertion, as posted below, that the fee paid at DMV is a license tax,
not a sales tax is, of course, bullcrap. I would point out that the form
used in NY state to pay this fee is called the sales tax form. Seems pretty
clear to me.

Example: A friend just bought a car on Ebay. It is in PA and he just sent
the check. On Tuesday, he and I will be taking what was the Pennsylvania RR
to Harrisburg to pick it up and drive it back to NY.

In the initial skirmish with the Bureau of Arrogant Third World Women (the
DMV), he will pay to register (not "license", Mr GL) the car, and he will
pay 8.25 per cent of the purchase price to the NY sales tax department. This
fee is collected at the time of the initial registration of the car. He will
not have paid any sales tax in PA.

If anyone from GL would like to contact me privately, I will be happy to
cite the NY state law that covers this.

Once again, I would admonish anyone involved with these miscreants to
remeber the adage "Figures don't lie, liars figure."
