RE: [MV] AS-1729 antenna question

Keep in mind that the AS1729 is actually a vertical dipole that
is fed at the center, so looks can be deceiving if you are
comparing overall length to that of a 1/4-wave CB whip ...

place the band-switch to the lowest frequency segment and
give it a try, however ...

I have a 4242MK1 that works fine on 10 and 11 meters but it is
not the vertical half-wave design, but is an end-fed unit with
a broad-band matching unit at the base (no bandswitch) ...

Hi listers, Has anybody tried to use the AS-1729 vehicle mounted antenna for a CB radio? It seems to be just the right height for a 1/4 wavelength and the coax cable is 50 ohm (RG-058). Appreciate any input here. Thanks Bjorn
