Depending on your transceiver it may work. Some radios will shut down
the transmitter final if a high enough SWR is detected. Some will just
reduce the power but still work. Others will just simply burn out. If
your radio will transmitt into this bad a match it will work similar to
having an unfolded coat hanger connected to the radio, which may be good
enough for convoy use etc.
