Hey Folks,

Putting this to a simple logic test, when you kill the
Electrics "on/off" rotary paddle switch on the dash
(the one that covers the engine stop cable when on),
the engine doesn't shudder to a halt until you kill it
with the engine stop cable. So, assuming that the
function of the on/off switch doesn't change when the
engine is running or not, it's safe to say that the
in-tank pump is turned off when you kill the electrics
while the engine is running, and therefore, knowing
all of the above, the deuce doesn't need a tank pump
ONCE it's running.

I bet the in tank pump probably has the most utility
when starting. This is conjecture, but it's probably
more like a "lifter pump" make sure the system is
primed, whereupon the injector pump takes over.
