I worked on and managed maintenance on these vehicles in the U.S. Army from
1961 until 1982 and I can't remember ever reading anywhere that they are a
MUTT. I thought they were Truck, 1/4 Ton M151, M151A1 and M151A2. Whats
wrong with that description?

Sonny

Subject: [MV] M151 Question

Is MUTT an official name of the M151 and does it stand for "Military Unit
Tactical Truck" or "Multi-Utility Tactical Truck".
What is the official date the first enter US military service 1959 or 1960
and when was it replaced/stopped being built 1978 or 1985? There was about
150.000 built is that about right? And how does that compare to the HMMWV.
While I was in service I never saw lots of M151 but now it seem like there
are so many HMMWV that when you enlist they give you one. TIA Wayne
