In firefighting, the two-and-a-half-inch line ("hose" to you onlookers) is a
"deuce'n'a half" but the two-inch line is a "two-inch line". Go figure.

(Of course, the one-a-half inch line is a "booster line" and the front
hydrant connection is a "steamer" connection. When you pump while the
engine is moving, you are said to "Pump & roll", not "pump & drive". The
truck that pumps is an "engine", the vehicle that has the ladder on top is
the "truck" and the truck with the tank is a pumper. It's all a conspiracy,
right, Sonny?)
